Young People’s Concert ~ April, 2006
Each year, Welte Hall is filled with a new class of 5th graders who come from several areas in Connecticut. The New Britain Symphony provides a wonderful musical experience for this young audience and, as you can see, includes them on stage as well as off!

"The conductor, Paige Vickery, was fantastic with the kids “young and fun" what a role model"!
"The conductor’s command of and interaction with the orchestra was outstanding.
The concert was clearly about the orchestra, the music and the audience, not her.
Of course, with that approach and attitude, it was a win, win for everyone"!
KIDS IN THE BALCONY
Throughout the concert season, more than a thousand children receive free tickets to
attend New York Pops performances at Carnegie Hall.
Through their schools, community centers or clubs, New York City children are offered free tickets for all New York Pops concerts at Carnegie Hall, including the annual Birthday Gala where more than 830 children fill the Carnegie Hall balcony. In order to prepare students more thoroughly for their concert-going experience, groups can arrange for a member of orchestra’s Education Staff to visit before the concert. The staff member offers information about Carnegie Hall, the orchestra, conductor, guest artists, and concert etiquette.

Paige Vickery has been the director of Boulder Youth Symphony since 1998, presenting over 200 concerts and teaching over 1000 children in the Boulder and Denver metro area. The BYS has become one of the premier programs in the state. A respected conductor and educator, Ms.Vickery's passion and vision for making music, and it's inherent benefit to young people, is demonstrated in the broad range of experiences her orchestras are exposed to. In addition to learning the important works of the classical music canon, the BYS under Vickery's direction has stepped beyond the boundaries of the youth orchestra experience. BYS has commissioned original works with visits from the composer, partnered with the Boulder Philharmonic and University of Colorado in mentoring and shared performances, and most recently, participated in "Daniel Pearl" music day allowing the students to share in a global celebration that involved more than 5,000 musical performances worldwide on one day of observance for world peace through music.

Concert with the Chattanooga Symphony Youth Orchestras
"She has been here in Chattanooga for a weeks residency and turned this area upside down."
~Joan Murray, CSYO Board Member
"Not only were the young musicians beautifully prepared by their respective conductors, their response to the evening’s internationally renowned guest conductor, C. Paige Vickery, was thrilling to witness. Those in the audience understood without question the role the arts play in enriching the lives of all of us, performers and those who cheer them alike."
