John Gunther is a musician with an expansive musical palette. Drawing upon styles and traditions from around the world, his scores and performances have included influences from jazz to classical to world music.

John performs on saxophone, flute, and clarinet, with his own group "Axis Mundi". The groups third CD, "Gone 'Fishin" (CIMP) has received critical acclaim. He is also a member of the jazz sextet, "Convergence" and is founder of two new music groups, "Spooky Actions" and "Super String Theory" whose members are some of the finest of New York's "downtown" scene. He has received grants and commissions from the National Endowment for the Arts and "Meet the Composer" and has scored for film and animation. John is a professor at New York University and is founder of Turnworld Music. [longer bio]
