Dogs: The Rise and Fall of an All-Girl Bookie Joint (1996)Directed by Eve Annenberg. This program follows the travails of three young ladies as they try to make their way through the mean streets of Manhattan. To make ends meet, the girls decide to start a bookie joint (an illegal gambling parlor) with predictably quirky results. Beyond the focus on their careers, this comedy takes a wry look at relationships, and how they've changed in the face of changing gender roles.

"Eye Music" is a four volume set of original music available for licensing. Utilizing live and sampled instruments, "Eye Music" covers a wide selection of styles and genres.

Killing Time (2002)Starring Jack Thyme. Directed by Anthony Jaswinski. A slacker who's down on his luck takes a walking tour of New York City in this low-key independent comedy. The first feature from director Anthony Jaswinski, Killing Time was shown at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.

Orchestral Works   Dance  
Barbara Rearick is a sensitive performer of opera, oratorio, lieder, and popular American song. In May of 2002 Ms. Rearick performed Mendelssohn's Grosse festmusik zum Duererfest (world premiere of the complete version) with Amor Artis Orchestra. John and Barbara are collaborating on the creation of orchestral arrangements of the great american songbook beginning with the composers Jerome Kern and George Gershwin. As Composer in Residence at the 2003 Fringe International Dance Festival, John Gunther collaborated with Choreagropher/Dancer Michael Mennagon to create "Winter Thunder" a 15 minute electronic and acoustic soundscape inspired by prime numbers and scientific discussion.
Small Jazz Ensemble
  Chamber Works  
John has composed numerous works for a small jazz ensemble of rhythm section plus 3horns. All music is published and available through TurnWorld. Super String Theory is a contemporary String Quartet accompanied by John Gunther on woodwinds. Gunther's arrangements include the music of Thelonious Monk and Bartok as well as original music inspired by the music of West Africa and the Balkans.
